New workshops, new dates

We have been overwhelmed (in the best possible way) with the love and enthusiasm for our flower school classes since we started them in late 2013.

Thank you to everyone who has attended a class, spread the news, made an inquiry, or even just given our workshops some love on social media. We are so grateful for your support and are excited to continue the flower school adventures with this new series of classes!

Throughout May and June we are celebrating all that is beautiful in Spring... and yes, that includes peonies.

We know you love them so much we have devoted an ENTIRE workshop to peonies.

Floral 101 - For the Love of Peonies will be held on Sunday, May 25 where we will teach you to create a Spring bouquet and centerpiece where peonies are the shining stars. But hurry, this class is a one-time-only workshop and places are limited.

In our To Have and To Hold - Bridal Edition class on Sunday, June 8 we will teach you the art of creating an elegant yet natural bridal bouquet. Focusing on our signature style, we will teach you about bloom and foliage selection, shape and movement to take your designs to a new level. The class will end with your bouquet being professionally photographed.

Floral 101 - Personal Flowers will be held Sunday, June 22 and is all about the art of intricate floral detailing, such as floral crowns, corsages and boutonnieres. We'll teach you the techniques you need to create these sweet delights all on your own.

You can read more details and reserve your place in any of these workshops here

A natural delight

The opportunity to bring a client's vision to life is what we live for here at Celsia. It's the most fulfilling feeling to see all those pages of sketches and endless pins on a Pinterest board turned in to a tangible design at a celebration event.

We had this joy recently when we were asked to dream up and create florals for Farmacie's long table dinner event. A collaborative effort by many local businesses (and yes, you know we love a good collaboration) the event raised money for Vancouver-based organisations  Quest Food Exchange and Backpack Buddies

Drawing on a natural, organic and sustainable vision which supports Farmacie's ethos, we worked predominantly with foliage for this entire event. We made greenery chandeliers which were suspended from the ceiling, laid greens garlands down the length of the long tables and made minimalist floral arrangements in wooden planter boxes which were accompanied by herb planters donated by Urban Zucchini

The talented ladies as Spruce Collective pulled it all together with their unique decor and eye for detail, and we think you'll agree the result was a magical evening.

These beautiful images were captured by photographer Gillian Stevens. You can see more images from the event here

Floral 101 Advanced edition

Our studio was again filled to capacity on Sunday for the advanced edition of our Floral 101 series.

In this class students tackled both a bouquet and a centerpiece in Celsia's signature style. What made the designs all-the-more impressive was the fact many attendees had been up since 4am to watch the Gold medal ice hockey match! We applaud their commitment!

Floral 101 - Advanced marked the end of our second workshop series but fear not - we have NEW FLOWER SCHOOL CLASSES now open for registration. Email  events@celsiafloral.com  to join in the fun.

Celsia partners with Vancouver Art Gallery

It is with great honor and delight that we write this post today, sharing the news that Celsia is now the preferred florist for the Vancouver Art Gallery.

The VAG is one of our favorite Vancouver venues and we have done many celebrations inside its doors in the past. With our new formal partnership you will see Celsia florals at all gallery member-based events, and many more too we are sure.

We look forward to sharing with you the designs we create for upcoming VAG events, the first of which is their 2014 Art Moves art auction this Saturday, February 15. This event aims to raise almost $1 million in a single night in support of exhibitions and educational programs.

In preparation for the event, today one half of the Celsia team has "moved in" to the gallery to begin our floral work which will take shape over the next few days. The other half of the team is busy in our studio in Valentine's mode! You can follow along with our team's beautifully busy week on Instagram where we'll be using the hashtags #TeamVAG and #TeamVDAY to share our happenings.

** The images below are of florals we designed for the Charles Edenshaw exhibition opening at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Terrarium and air plant creation workshop

Sunday was a quaint and quirky new class on our flower school schedule working with succulents and air plants.

We got hands on and our hands dirty making personalised terrariums from a variety of echeveria, each individually picked by the students.

We particularly loved all the Instagram pictures of the finished designs taking up residence in the students' homes. Learning to create fun, natural art is what flower school is all about, after all!

Thanks to everyone that joined us and to When Love Happens Photography for capturing the afternoon.

P.S We've just announced NEW FLOWER SCHOOL CLASSES scheduled for May and June. Jump on over and check them out. Then email  events@celsiafloral.com  to join in the fun!
