On the cover

At Celsia we take part in a select number of editorials each year which we lovingly pour all of our creative energy in to bringing to life.

The experience involves many hours of hardwork but is oh so rewarding when we see our designs published and all of our ideas shared for others to be inspired by and enjoy.

It is for this reason we are grateful and proud to share the news an editorial we collaborated on at Vancouver's beautiful Hycroft Manor will grace the cover of the Fall/Winter edition of Perfect Wedding magazine. In the midst of a beautifully busy wedding season, we feel it necessary to take a moment to revel in the excitement of this announcement as well as appreciate the talent of all of the wonderful vendors we had the opportunity to work with on this shoot.

We will let you know once all of the glossy pages are released and ready for you to enjoy!

Playing with color

It's been a little quiet on the blog of late as we've been out and about creating beautiful weddings throughout the Summer months.

Rest assured we will be back with plenty of photos to share with you come Fall... as well as an announcement of new WORKSHOP DATES! Watch this space.

For now, we thought we'd share this sweet bouquet with you that had a unique colour palette. If we were to write it on paper it would sound a little challenging: soft pinks and peaches, rich wine tones, ink blue, a pop of fuschia. When we started to make it however, it just made itself! We love it when that happens.

Thanks to Melissa Gidney Photography for sharing her beautiful images of this couple's portrait session with us.

Bridal workshop creations

We had a very rewarding Sunday at flower school the other week teaching two talented ladies the art of bridal bouquets.

Focused on Celsia’s signature style, we delved in to the details of the perfect bouquet, from colour palette and bloom selection to shape and structure.

They’re finished works of art were so beautiful we just had to share them with you.

Congratulations Aspen and Christina! It was a joy to have you join us and share your passion for flowers.

Moving flowers and art

It has taken us a while to write this blog post – but oh how much we enjoyed reliving this event with each frame.

The images we’re about to share are from the Vancouver Art Gallery’s 2014 Art Auction, a biennial event that aims to raise almost $1 million in a single night in support of exhibitions and educational programs.

Having joined the VAG as their offical floral partner this year, we were thrilled to be a part of the event design for this year’s auction, based around the theme “Art Moves”.

We embraced the concept in many way through floral decor. We created movement through use of colour and design, as well as through floral installations moving along walls, down the grand staircase in the rotunda, around tables and hanging from the ceiling.

It was a four-day on-site build and install to transform various spaces within the gallery – and we loved every moment of it.

We hope you enjoy the photos and are inspired to bring some floral movement in to your next event or celebration.

For the love of peonies workshop

Our much-anticipated For the Love of Peonies workshop was a beautiful success with a class full of ladies joining us for a gorgeous afternoon in the studio.

We spent this flower school class focusing on bouquet and arrangement techniques with each student finishing the session with two completed designs of their own to take home.

Although mastering the bouquet spiral technique can be quite tricky, we loved watching the initial frustration turn to satisfaction as each work of art began to develop and the bouquets took shape.

Equally enjoyable was the creation of a centerpiece where we taught the skill of using peonies as the focus bloom of any arrangement, yet not the only bloom. While a vase full of peonies is undoubtedly a statement all of its own, we were beyond thrilled to see these talented ladies embracing the challenge of working with a variety of flowers in different shapes and sizes, along with the treasured peonies.

We think you'll agree their finished creations are the perfect blend of floral design and peony perfection.

Thanks to Chocolate Arts for the afternoon treats and When Love Happens Photography for capturing the day.

We have just one workshop left in our current series where we'll be teaching the tips and tricks of personal flowers, including floral crowns and boutonnieres. We'd love you to join us for flower school!
