Bouquet inspiration from the runway

We had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with Blush Bridal and Special Occasions to bring bouquets to the runway as part of the haute couture fashion show at Countdown Event's annual Crème de la Crème Grand Wedding Showcase this month.

Inspired by gowns from designers such as Vera Wang, Reem Acra and Claire Pettibone, we created a collection of bouquets each with a different color palette and personality, just like a bride and her wedding dress.

We've included a few notes below about each of our bouquets and how they were achieved.

Garden in bloom: This bouquet combined more natural and organic elements such as kale, ferns and succulents with much-loved roses and ranunculus. A hint of the variegated phalaenopsis orchid gave a luxurious twist alongside the striking watermelon-toned amaryllis which was our focus bloom.

Boho-chic: We love to work with unexpected colours and blooms and this bouquet was the perfect opportunity to do so. Ferns, vines and croton leaves worked as accents to the amaryllis, garden roses, ranunculus and celosia which were used across a palette of yellow, pink and red. The bouquet was off-set with a two-toned trailing ribbon and mint band.

Celsia Floral

Neutral and textured: Our intention for this bouquet was to display an array of different textures while working with all-white blooms. Roses, ranunculus, lisianthus and anemones were the only focus flowers used. The eye-catching tones and textures came through from the use of dusty miller, privet berry, scabiosa pods, ranunculus buds and lisianthus tips.

Celsia Floral

Exotique: Creating this bouquet required a trip to the local nursery to ensure the perfect eye-catching feature that wouldn't be found in the average garden. It was achieved with the fabulous bromeliad which we paired with ranunculus and roses along with other nursery finds such as potted ferns and purple and mint-toned succulents.

Timeless romance: What girl doesn't love a blush bouquet? Using sweet and delicate blooms such as ranunculus, lisianthus, spray rose, sweetpea, tulips and heather we created this feminine bouquet wrapped in luxurious brown velvet ribbon. We added the smallest hint of color with green-tipped kale, burgundy-centered cymbidium and apricot hypericum to ensure the overall palette did not become too flat.

Celsia Floral

Botanical elegance: Lotus pods, olive branches, staghorn ferns and eucalyptus leaves were just some of the fillers and foliage that gave this bouquet its distinct botanical personality. The neutral-toned blooms allowed the "greenery" to be the eye-catching element of this bouquet.

Provence inspired shoot on Style Me Pretty

Old world beauty, modern day style and timeless design were seamlessly brought together in this Provence-inspired editorial featured today on Style Me Pretty.

Planned and styled by Countdown Events, we had the pleasure of creating the bountiful florals for the shoot which included an elaborate tablescape, bridal bouquet and crown.

Drawing on the natural setting for inspiration, we used a combination of both local and exotic blooms to design arrangements with a distinct botanical influence. Tree peonies, thistle, jasmine vine, ferns, artichokes and passion flower were just some of the unique elements we incorporated throughout.

We hope you enjoy these images as much as we enjoyed reliving the beauty, frame by frame, as captured by Melissa Gidney.

Rustic romance

You know that moment when you look at a photo and it just has happiness and joy written all over it?That's how we felt when Kim and David emailed us these pictures from their Summer wedding. We had such a wonderful time getting to know this sweet couple during their engagement and loved hearing all of the little details that were going in to their day. When we saw the images from Sakura Photography, the one thing that struck us was how perfectly it captured both of their shining, genuine personalities. Kim and David were wanting a rustic and romantic vibe at their wedding with lots of natural elements and earthy tones. We used field-like flowers such as scabiosa, lavender and wax flower to achieve this, along with other blooms including ranunculus, chrysanthemums and roses. There was also a succulent included in Kim's bouquet that she was able to remove and re-plant to act as a long-lasting memory of their beautiful day.

A beautiful collective

A new collaboration is always an exciting experience for us, so when Spruce Vintage Rentals asked Celsia to provide florals for their Winter Look Book, we jumped! Designing in vessels from Spruce's own rental collection, including old metallic goblets and a trophy urn, we were asked to create a classic and elegant feel working with a predominantly neutral color palette.

We think you'll agree, the combination of Mikaela Ruth's photography, Anna Elizabeth Cakes' elegant dessert, Spruce's gorgeous and unique pieces combined with impeccable styling has resulted in a truly beautiful collection of images.

Here's a few of our favorites to share. You can view the entire look book and information about Spruce's rentals here.
