Wreath making flower school

Thank you to all of the wonderful ladies who have joined us for holiday wreath making classes in the past week.

As well as our sold-out Celsia Flower School class, we also hosted two private in-store workshops and have been thrilled with the variety of creations everyone has come up with.

It is always amazing to see how many different designs can come about starting with just one bucket of simple Winter greens.

There’s certainly some talented people out there – not to mention some well-decorated front doors and interiors!

A special thanks must go to Simply Rose Photography for capturing the festive fun seen here, and to Les Petits Bonheurs for providing the scrumptious desserts enjoyed by our Flower School attendees.

Let it snow - Featured Editorial

The cold snap that is suddenly upon us couldn't make this editorial feature more fitting.

Published today on Real Weddings is our collaboration with a group of amazing vendors including Maru Photography and Red Carpet Ready by Christina who developed the concept for this "Let it snow"-themed bridal shoot at Cecil Green Park House.

Taking inspiration from the holiday season with the finest trimmings, we created a warm and luxurious setting showcasing a modern yet romantic and classic style, complete with an elegant tablescape and indulgent dessert bar.

You can read more about the inspiration behind the shoot and see the full listed of talented vendors involved here.

Gifts that keep on living

Today marks just one week until Christmas! Haven't completed your shopping yet? We're here to help.

Because we love gifts that keep on living we have a huge range of planters so you're bound to find something for even the hardest person on your Christmas list.

We can also make a planter to suit your needs using our extensive range of potted products. We have poinsettia, orchids, mini cypress trees, hellebores, paperwhites, amaryllis, succulents and even Venus fly traps!

If you like DIY gifts, we can put together a paperwhite kit complete with a basket, fresh bulbs, soil, and ornaments to decorate the planter.

All of our potted plants are available for purchase individually so drop in and have a look if you're in Kitsilano.

12 Days of Christmas cheer for 12.12.12

Considering today is 12.12.12 (repetition we will never seen again) we thought it was the perfect time to tell you about our 12 Days of Christmas arrangement. It's something a little bit different but we think you are going to like it.

The order is made up of 12 sweet little votives of Christmas cheer that you receive all together. Made up of seasonal, long-lasting products such as Winter greens, berries, branches and fresh blooms, these little delights will spread color and joy for 12 days and more.

We'd love you to treat them as decorations for your space. You can spread them throughout your business or home to brighten things up, place them in little groupings in different rooms or line them all up together to appreciate their collective festive spirit - as we have done in one of our front windows.

They would also make a unique and interesting gift idea!

You can place your order for our 12 Days of Christmas online here or call us in store.

Time to order your Christmas wreath

There's something about having a wreath hanging on your front door during the holiday season.Just a glimpse of one and you somehow get wrapped up in the festive spirit. And before you know it you're wearing your Santa hat and singing Christmas carols! Well today we are bringing you a few options to adorn your home, office or business with a wreath of its own.

Let's start with the easy option. We can make one for you! Our basic wreaths come in either a circle or square shape and start at $50.

If you are after something a little more luxurious, how about our gorgeous candle centerpiece wreath finished off with roses and succulents?

Or if you are feeling crafty and creative, why not make one yourself? This week we hosted a wreath-making workshop with a group of ladies from Nicola Wealth Management and they each completed the evening with a beautiful wreath to take home. Here's how they did it:

1. Start with a pre-greened wreath (available from Celsia Florist).

2. Gather decorative trimmings such as eucalyptus, magnolia, berry branches, bog myrtle branches and pine cones or other ornamental/decorative items. The tip ends of the branches work best.

3. Begin to layer the first item on to the wreath following the same direction as the greens. For now just push the stems of your items into the existing greens frame. We will secure them in place later.

4. Choose your next decorative item/branch and place it so that the greens/leaves overlap the first branch and cover the stem. Make sure that all the stems face the same direction on the wreath.

5. Continue inserting the decorative items/branches until you have completed the circle or are happy with your design.

6. Add pinecones/ornaments/bows by twisting a piece of paddle wire around the base of the item, leaving a tail of 8 to 10 inches. Tie the wired item’s tail to the wreath.

7. Once all of your trimmings are on the wreath, take paddle wire and wrap in a continuous motion all the way around your wreath to secure the loose stems in place. Lift up some of the greens as you go to cover the exposed wire and keep some volume to the wreath.

8. When you are back to your starting point, tie the wire off and tuck the loose ends in to the back of your wreath.

9. Twist some wire and make it into a loop which you can attach to the back of your wreath to form a hook with which to hang it.

10. Proceed to your front door, hang you wreath and stand back to admire your creation.

If this sounds like a little too much work, place your order for a wreath with us! We ask for one day's notice for any wreath arrangement.
